Kings Lane fire displaces family
A Gardnerville family was displaced Wednesday after the trailer they were living in sustained serious damage.
Units from the East Fork Fire Protection District and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received the call at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday that a trailer was on fire in the Kings Lane area.
Upon arrival deputies and fire personnel were told a women was still inside the trailer. Deputies attempted to extinguish a fire in the crawlspace underneath the structure but it was too large. Four engines, three ambulances and a heavy rescue were used to bring the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. All four occupants of the home were evacuated, and one was transported to CVMC for evaluation. There were no injuries to firefighters or deputies.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with housing.
The East Fork Fire Protection District wants to remind people to ensure you have working smoke detectors, and practice an evacuation plan.
