Joyce’s hosts 36th Christmas card release

Staff Reports
Joyce’s Fine Jewelry’s Christmas Card release will feature late local artist Mimi Jobe and work by Linda Guslani Stratton on Saturday.

Joyce’s Fine Jewelry will be hosting the 36th annual Christmas card release featuring local fine artists, Linda Guslani Stratton and Mimi Jobe. Every year Joyce’s works in partnership with local artist Linda Guslani Stratton, as well as with the family of artist Mimi Jobe to create an original work of art representing the Carson Valley. Typically these original works of art are winter scenes that capture the beauty of the Sierras, and represent the tradition of family and friends during the holidays. Both of these works of art are then produced into a Christmas Card that is exclusive to the Carson Valley. Linda Guslani Stratton’s Christmas card is an original 2016 oil painting and Mimi Jobe’s Christmas card is from the Private Collection from our family, Joyce & Jerry Neddenriep.

Linda G. Stratton lives and creates in the Carson Valley. She has studied locally with skilled artist Tina Tyrrell and also at the Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona. Traveling to southern France to paint and attending many art workshops around the country has given Linda the experience to develop her unique and charming style. For the past several years Linda’s original artwork has been featured at Joyce’s and this will be the fifth year her Christmas card is on sale at Joyce’s. Along with her annual Christmas cards for purchase, Joyce’s has available giclee prints of selected pieces, other original artwork, all occasion note cards, notebooks, and gift tags all by Linda.

Both 2016 Christmas cards can be purchased throughout the entire Holiday Season from Joyce’s Fine Jewelry. Cards may also be purchased in quantities or singles.

Norie Jenkins, owner and operator of Joyce’s Fine Jewelry states, “Every year I look forward to presenting the new Christmas Cards to the community. This year’s cards are both very unique to The Carson Valley, and Linda’s particularly highlights the Town of Genoa. We think our collectors will be thrilled! The innovation and creativity behind our partnership with Linda G. Stratton is very exciting, her fresh and colorful perspective on art is just lovely. Joyce’s has partnered with Mimi Jobe, and the Jobe Family for the last 36 years in this event; it has become a legacy event for the Carson Valley. I am incredibly proud of our 36 years in the event partnership, and how its continued to morph and grow through the years. For many Carson Valley residents our event is a tradition to begin the holiday season. Mimi’s card, Peaceful Eve, demonstrates Mimi’s ability to capture the natural beauty and wildlife of the Carson Valley. Linda’s card, A Cozy Genoa Christmas, is an inviting & charming scene next to The Genoa Bar.”

“The little town of Genoa, Nevada is all aglow during the holiday season. As our family tradition goes, each Christmas we would go for an evening ride to slow down a bit and soak in some of the holiday splendor. Just after a healthy December snowfall last year, we happened on this quaint and gentle site. Picturesque and simple is this quiet town as it sparkles in the moonlight.”

“This is my absolute favorite time of the year at Joyce’s,” said Norie Jenkins, owner of Joyce’s Fine Jewelry. “Our annual show has turned into an amazingly creative production, taking an entire year to plan the launch. It is a community tradition, as well as a family one. The whole Joyce’s family and superb staff get involved. I helped my mother, Joyce Neddenriep, when she and Mimi started it 36 years ago. Now my mother and daughter, Krissie Thornhill, and very creative staff help me in executing the show. This year’s Christmas Show is especially special because it also kicks off our 40th year of business in the Carson Valley, which we will be celebrating with special promotions all year long.”

On Saturday, this year’s Christmas cards will be introduced along with all the finest of holiday treasurers from ornaments and holiday tabletop accessories to garlands, tree glamour, and season gifts. Joyce’s will also be serving champagne and hor d’oeuvres the day of the event to ring in the holiday season with cheer. We will also be showcasing our partnership with Hallelujah Toffee, a local nonprofit organization. Their toffee will be on sale the day of the event at Joyce’s and throughout the holiday season. The Christmas show will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., Saturday Nov. 5.

Joyce’s Fine Jewelry is located in The Record Courier Center at 1503 Main Street, Suite A Gardnerville.

This is an annual tradition that is shared with hundreds of local Carson Valley residents, as well as families that travel from out of state. Come in, visit the beauty, and be apart of the tradition. More information can be found at, or by calling 782-5631.
