Johnson new president for association of counties

The 2011 officers of the Nevada Association of Counties took their oaths of office on Jan. 10 at a ceremony held on the steps of the NACO building.

Serving as president for 2011 is Douglas County Commissioner Doug Johnson. President-elect is Mineral County Commissioner Jerrie Tipton. Esmeralda County Commissioner Nancy Boland will serve as vice president.

The officers were sworn in by Sen. James Settelmeyer, R-Minden, whose district includes parts of Douglas County.

After taking the oath of office, Johnson said the association would face many challenges this year including the upcoming legislative session and pledged to work hard to help NACO meet these challenges.

Johnson is in his second term as a Douglas County commissioner and has served on the NACO Board of Directors since 2006.
