Jobless numbers down to 4.7 percent
Unemployment in Douglas County dropped to 4.7 percent in April.
The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported 1,033 jobless during the month, down 54 from March.
The number of employed was also down compared to March, at 20,896, down 320.
“All 17 counties are faring well with declining unemployment rates, said Bill Anderson, chief economist for Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. “Overall, the Silver State continues to show steady improvement in the labor market, with job growth on the rise.”
Year-to-date online job posting activity is up in 13 of 17 counties in April. Douglas has seen the largest positive change over last year, with 530 more online postings year-to-date.
According to the state, high online ad volume often occurs for occupations that are having difficulty finding qualified candidates, high turnover positions, or when companies are building large candidate pools.
