Interactive job seminar Nov. 17-18

A free, two-day, interactive job seminar has been scheduled for Nov. 17-18 at Carson Valley Inn in Minden.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is required.
Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17, and the seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days with lunch provided in the middle. Participants will receive hands-on, expert advice from local area employment professionals on resume preparation, organizing and managing job searches, the essentials of networking, using social media, improving interviewing skills, and effective post-interview follow-up.
The event has been organized by Douglas County’s Employment Training Job Development Program, which is committed to assisting residents who wish to enhance their marketability and become more competitive in today’s tough job market.

Joan Anderson has been named general manager of Merrill Gardens at Gardnerville retirement community.

Anderson brings three years of experience in retirement living and more than 15 years in medical administration to her new post at Merrill Gardens at Gardnerville. She has directed operations at retirement and assisted living communities in California and worked as an administrator for multi-site medical clinics in California.
Most recently, Anderson served as the regional business coordinator for Minden-based Rite of Passage, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk youth.
