There were hundreds of dogs at the dedication of improvements at Johnson Lane Park, but they were all the eating kind.

A dog park is one of the most anticipated amenities, and one that will wait until spring 2017.

Scott Morgan said that the county will build the dog park, which consists mostly of erecting the fence around the site.

“The off leash dog park is planned for 2017,” he said. “The level of improvements will depend on funds available.”

On Thursday hundreds of residents braved chilly weather to celebrate the new playground and other improvements.

The county served 195 hot dogs at the barbecue.
