historical book is ready
The Record-Courier and Carson Valley Historical Society announce the publication of a hard-cover pictorial history of the Carson Valley.
The keepsake book – “Carson Valley Historic Photo Album; The Early Years: 1860-1940” – is available for immediate pickup. Pre-publication mail orders were sent out this week. All other pre-publication orders may be picked up at The Record-Courier office during regular business hours.
The book is available for purchase through the newspaper, either at the R-C office or by completing the order form currently running in the paper.
In addition, copies may be purchased through the historical society, including at the Carson Valley Museum gift shop. A portion of those sales benefits the historical society.
Featuring more than 300 photos, the historic photo album captures almost a century of history in the Valley, including the towns of Gardnerville, Minden and Genoa. The historical society has carefully selected an outstanding collection of photographs that depict life in the Carson Valley and highlight the area’s rich heritage. The book is divided into sections that relate to historical periods or unique aspects of the Carson Valley. Each chapter includes an introduction written by Cindy Southerland, historical society research historian. Cecile Brown, curator of museums, coordinated the selection of photos from the historical society’s archives.
Reprints of photographs featured in the Carson Valley Historic Photo Album are available for purchase through the historical society.
