Helicopter crashes at airport

Staff Reports

A helicopter carrying four people crashed Tuesday afternoon at the Minden Tahoe Airport, authorities reported. One person received minor injuries and the other three passengers refused treatment.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lance Modispacher said the crash occurred at 3:25 p.m.

A second aircraft parked at the site was damaged, he said.

“As the helicopter was coming down, a rotor apparently hit a fixed wing vehicle that was parked nearby,” Modispacher said.

He also said there was a fuel leak as a result of the crash, but had no other details. The passengers and pilot were not identified as of presstime.

Officials of the Federal Aviation Administration were enroute to the scene from Reno.
