Hair salon opens in new Walmart

Valley residents have a new hair salon to check out in the Gardnerville Walmart.

The SmartStyle Family Hair Salon at 1511 Grant Drive is open, and employees have been thanking residents for a warm welcome.

“Walk-ins are always welcome, and the salon accepts all major credit cards and cash,” the company said in a press release.

Services include adult and child haircuts as well as color and perms.

“SmartStyle carries a full line of professional hair care products including DESIGNLINE, Paul Mitchell, Redken and Biolage,” the company said.

SmartStyle salons are owned by Regis Corporation (NYSE:RGS), a global leader in beauty salons, hair restoration centers and cosmetology education. The hours of the new Gardnerville salon are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

1862 David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort and Spa in Genoa will be hosting a chamber after hours event 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The open house will begin in the gazebo with a few words by the resort’s general manager, Rachel Jones, and the introduction of the restaurant’s new executive chef, Richard LaCounte.

Appetizers and beverages will be served. Desserts will be featured in Harriet’s Cafe. Tours of the new day spa will also be available.

“The spa recently re-opened after a six-month renovation and features men’s and women’s saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms, luxury locker rooms in addition to all-new treatment rooms for facials and skin care, massages and body treatments,” the company said in a press release.
