==The Great Race, a national cross-country vintage car event, made a stop in Gardnerville Sunday.

The Town of Gardnerville and Main Street Gardnerville estimated the event drew 2,000 attendees with 72 car owners entering the Heritage Park Classic Car Show.

The show attracted local cars as well as cars from Reno, Carson City and California.

“A 15 year Great Race veteran said this was the best stop they have ever been a part of as they appreciated the warm welcome, a tent to get out of the heat, and appreciated the good food provided,” Main Street Gardnerville Board member Scott Bergan said. “Another competitor mentioned this was his first time seeing the beauty of the Carson Valley as they were finishing their crossing of the Sierra.”
