Glenbrook may see controlled burn today

U.S. Forest Service crews expect to conduct up to 135 acres of prescribed burning above Glenbrook starting today, according to a Friday statement from the agency.

Operations will continue through the week as weather and conditions allow.

Because of the project size, Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Reno residents may see a significant amount of smoke rising from the project area, according to the agency.

The Forest Service will staff a prescribed fire information station at the Spooner Summit fire station, according to the statement. Fire information staff will be available from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m..

Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.
