Girl injured in Winhaven accident

A 10-year-old Minden girl is recovering at Renown Regional Medical Center after being struck by a car while checking the mail on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred on Bougainvillea Drive at about 8:15 p.m.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was struck at the cluster mailboxes by a Kia sport utility vehicle driven by her mother.
Initial reports are that the vehicle went into reverse while the girl was behind it.
She was helicoptered for treatment with reports of abdominal pain and an injured leg.
