Residents and visitors packed the Genoa Town Church on Friday night to sing Christmas carols before lighting Hope Falcke’s spruce tree.
The annual event also featured Santa’s arrival by fire truck and hot chocolate.
Clothed in lights of many colors, the Falcke tree switched to LED lighting this year, Town Manager Phil Ritger said.
The traditional blue and white incandescent lights required a much larger connection and drew a lot of current.
One town native, who knew Hope Falcke, said she liked the new lights.
