GE Energy conducting crisis drill Thursday

Staff Reports

GE Energy, East Fork Fire and Paramedics, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Care Flight will conduct a crisis drill at the GE Energy facility in Minden sometime Thursday morning.

The drill is a simulation of a workplace violence situation that will include a mock shooter in the building. The event is intended to serve as training for the local agencies involved as well as the crisis management team at GE.

There will be a high number of emergency vehicles present at the GE facility, 1631 Bently Parkway South. In addition, the Douglas County 911 call center will receive a mock call in response to the situation.

“GE Energy and local agencies train independently throughout the year on various crisis and emergency response situations,” said GE spokesperson Holly Spiers. “The drill is an attempt to bring the groups together to operate in as real of a situation as possible. If you receive calls from concerned citizens during the event, please assure them that the situation is only a drill.”
