It was a little bit warmer out than anticipated as the 18th annual Parade of Lights marched through Gardnerville and Minden on Saturday night.
“We’ve had colder years,” Executive Director Bill Chernock said of the parade, which lasted about an hour.
The forecast was for the temperature to drop down to 21 degrees, but it held steady at 25 degrees. Light snow that was forecast also failed to materialize.
The annual parade featured 41 entries with Santa bringing up the rear in his sleigh.
The parade’s grand marshal was the Douglas County Historical Society.
Walkers handed out candy to children among parade-goers as brightly lit floats passed by. The Starbucks float had hot drinks.
