Gardnerville bar operator denounces shooting
A Gardnerville bar operator expressed outrage at a shooting incident that damaged two downtown establishments early Sunday morning.
“This is ridiculous,” said Buckaroo’s owner Steve Orlando. “Someone shot up the front of my building, blew out my front door. The bullet went right through where people would be standing if we were open. It’s crazy. This is downtown Gardnerville. We don’t have drive-by shootings. We’re not going to put up with this.”
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
Deputies were called to the Nevada Ugly Bar next door to Buckaroos at 5:30 a.m. Sunday when the bartender reported shots fired.
Bullets broke the front window of the bar and shattered Buckaroos’ front door, hitting the bar.
The bartender told deputies he was cleaning up the bar after closing about two hours earlier when he heard a loud pop from outside and saw the front window fracture and break.
Deputies found a hole in the center of the window, which was consistent with a small caliber bullet.
On checking surrounding businesses, they found the door of Buckaroos shattered. Orlando said Buckaroos was closed at the time of the shooting.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Halsey said no suspects or vehicles were observed at the time, and no one was injured.
