After surviving a Feb. 26 snowboarding accident that left him with no feeling in his legs, Steven Jacobo, 23, is in need of physical therapy.
To help the 2009 Douglas High School graduate get back on his feet, friends and family have organized a spaghetti feed fundraiser 4 p.m. Nov. 23 at Flight Restaurant in Minden.
“There’s a possibility he could regain feeling in his legs, but he got dropped from his insurance and can’t afford to go to rehab,” longtime friend Michael Troutner said.
Proceeds will also go toward day care costs for Jacobo’s two children ages 1 and 2, so Jacobo’s wife, Candace, can continue working at Walgreens in Gardnerville.
“His wife works full-time, and he’s literally home in his wheelchair trying to take care of his kids,” Troutner said. “It’s really hard on him.”
Rustic bolognese spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and brownies are $10. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, too. Children ages 3-10 are $5.
There will also be raffle prizes including ski passes, catered wine tasting and appetizer party, backhoe work, jewelry, Lake Tahoe catered boat ride, restaurant certificates, massage, golf passes, and manicure/pedicures.
A donation account has been opened in Jacobo’s name at Eldorado Savings in Gardnerville no. 433034352.
