Fort Bragg woman succumbed to alcohol

Minden, Nev. — A Fort Bragg, Calif., woman who was found floating in Topaz Lake on June 17 drowned due to alcohol intoxication, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.

Janneke Strong was the subject of an autopsy conducted by the Washoe County Coroner’s Office.

Strong, 36, was found face down in 4 feet of water along the north shore of Topaz Lake.

Alcohol was also cited in connection with the death of Ian Bathgate.

Bathgate, 26, was found dead on March 29 in a van parked near a Gardnerville home.

Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell said an autopsy revealed Bathgate died as a result of an accidental overdose from alcohol and oxycodone.
