The former Pizza Barn’s owners found that moving from their Gardnerville location has also cost them rights to use the name.

Restaurant owner Jimmy Mickler said he reopened at 2561 Business Parkway in mid-November.

Then he got word that one of the stipulations when he bought the restaurant in 2005 was that the restaurant name was linked to the address in the Stratton Center and he had to come up with a new name.

Mickler’s response is to hold a contest to rename the restaurant, located at 2561 Business Parkway in Minden.

“We would like our loyal customers and all locals to help us choose a new logo and name,” he said.

Mickler said the winner will receive 15 pizzas of their choice, while second place gets a $25 gift certificate, and third place will receive two free lunches.

The contest runs through Wednesday.

“Then we can start off the new year with fresh ideas and revamped menu names and then begin the task of making sure that our future has a solid course of action to re-establish our pizzeria,” Mickler said.

The new restaurant specializes in deliveries, take-and-bakes, and pick-ups.

“We still have our same menu items — appetizers, hot and cold sandwiches and our famous Barnzoni (a pizza dough sandwich) which you may remember as the old hot sack. Just a name change,” Meckler said. “Our dough is still made fresh every day. We also have soups, chili and a house salad. We also have desserts and our new addition is Lady Liz’s Cupcakes.”

Mickler said that the restaurant has downsized, but does have limited seating.

The Micklers have owned the restaurant for nine years since they purchased it.

Anyone interested in submitting a name should contact Mickler at or call 775-782-5105. The restaurant’s mailing address is 2561 Business Parkway, Minden 89423.
