Fire drives seven from Gardnerville apartments

Gardnerville, Nev. — A fire in the apartments on El Dorado Drive in Gardnerville drove seven people from their homes on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a report of an explosion in one of the apartments at 12:45 p.m.

The second alarm fire was under control by 1:15 p.m. Smoke poured from apartment windows as firefighters arrived.

El Dorado Drive was closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Southwest Gas, NV Energy and the American Red Cross were called to the scene.

The displaced people included four adults two children and one infant inhabiting three of the four affected apartments.

There was no report of injury in the fire. The cause was not immediately available.

According to the Douglas County Assessor’s Office, the apartments were built in 1980.
