Fire department hosts fundraiser
On June 14, 5 p.m. till 10 p.m., the Antelope Valley Fire Department will be hosting a fun evening of dinner and a barn dance at their fire station on Larson Lane in Coleville. The music will be by Night Hawk with a tri-tip dinner and no-host bar, raffles, and a silent auction. The cost will be $20 for adults and children 13 and older, and $10 for ages 2 through 12. The funds will go for a building addition to the main station. Hope to see you there.
On June 15, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Mono County will be holding their annual vaccination and licensing clinic at the Walker Fire Hall, Hackney Drive and Shop Road. Rabies vaccinations will be available, as well as your pet’s county license. It is great to have this close to home, saving a trip into town for the vaccination if it needed, especially at such reasonable cost.
Post 3630 of the VFW is still holding their monthly pancake breakfasts at the Park Building in Topaz Ranch Estates. These delicious meals are held every month on the fourth Saturday morning at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children. They serve pancakes, sausage, bacon, juice and coffee.
This and that
The Antelope Valley Friends of the Library want to thank everyone who supported their book and bake sale on Memorial Day weekend. They especially appreciated all the help they got from Rod Brown in getting everything set up. All proceeds made go to the Coleville Library for their programs. The Friends hope to see you there at next year’s sale.
Now that our weather is turning warm, we should all remember that fire danger is increasing. Please be very careful about doing anything that could trigger a fire. There have been several in the past couple of years that could easily have been avoided if the parties involved would have thought about the danger of what they were doing (Ray May Way fire and TRE fire). Let’s have a fire-free season in the Valley.
