A 10-15-acre fire burning near Duane Bliss Peak above Jacks Valley Ranch is 5 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire burning two miles south of Spooner Summit was set by lightning at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire is creeping and smoldering in timber and brush. No structures are threatened at this time.

There are 16 firefighters working to extinguish the blaze, with the assistance of two helicopters.

Additionally, the Boise Hotshots and a third helicopter will arrive on scene later Wednesday to help with the fire fighting effort.

With the steep and rocky terrain and maintaining an emphasis on firefighter safety, officials expect to have a line two-fifths of the way around the fire by the end of the day.

The Genoa Fire is visible from Jacks Valley Road. Motorist are encouraged to maintain safe speeds and to focus on driving. Slowing down to watch the fire will increase traffic congestion and risk of vehicle accidents.
