Douglas County officials will be hosting a Financial State of the County event on Tuesday.
The event will highlight details of the county’s financial plan and discuss the county’s fiscal year 2015-16 budget development process. This year’s event will highlight several local businesses with “Spotlight Awards” for outstanding contributions to the community and partnership with the County.
“Douglas County continues to make great progress despite the financial and infrastructure challenges we face,” said County Manager Larry Werner. “We must focus on capital improvement and asset projects, and continue to invest in our greatest asset — a high-performing workforce.”
The implementation of the gas tax has allowed budgeting of transportation projects including reconstruction and improvements on roads. The county also intends to focus on capital improvement and asset projects including repair of county buildings and infrastructure, flood control and drainage projects, park and community facility projects, Minden-Tahoe Airport projects, flood control and storm water drainage projects, technology projects and utility projects.
The event will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn, Valley Ballroom. The Financial State of the County will begin at 6 p.m. Join the county as they recognize business and come together as a community to financially plan for next year.
