Education foundation fund-raiser is Oct. 1
The Douglas County Education Foundation’s 14th annual Festival of Food and Fun – “La Gran Fiesta” – is scheduled Sunday, Oct. 1, at Harveys Resort Hotel/Casino at Lake Tahoe.
More than $400,000 has been raised through the foundation’s major fund-raising event of the year. Funds have provided 357 grants to Douglas County schools for a wide range of projects, including math, science and technology, career and occupational education, special education, fine and performing arts and language arts.
Donated by Caesars Tahoe, this year’s festival grand prize is a seven-night stay at the Westin Regina Golf and Beach Club, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The prize includes round-trip airfare for two from Reno, round-trip limousine from Douglas County to Reno-Tahoe International Airport, plus round-trip transportation to the hotel from the airport.
In addition, the Festival of Food and Fun begins at 5 p.m. and includes an auction and raffle of donated items.
Tickets cost $50 person if purchased by Sept. 29 or $60 per person at the door. Tickets are available at the Carson Valley and Tahoe Douglas chambers of commerce, Douglas County Library, Douglas County Education Foundation Trustees and online at http://www./dced.org.
