East Fork sends engine to 4,500-acre Nixon fire
For the second time in three days, East Fork Fire District is sending an engine to fight a Washoe County fire.
East Fork Fire Chief Tod Carlini said the district is sending a brush truck from Station 10 to fight the Hollywood Fire burning near Nixon.
No structures are threatened. The request and response is under the Nevada Mutual Aid Agreement. Capt. Paul Azevedo, Engineer Kevin Repan, and Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Wennhold are the responding crew. Crews say the lightning-sparked wildfire burning near Nixon has grown to roughly 4,500 acres, according to officials.
Firefighters have a line around half of the fire, according to an update issued this afternoon.
The Hollywood Fire started just after 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Hollywood Road area. Bureau of Land Management, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, and Pyramid Lake Volunteers were the initial responders. BLM crews are expected to use dozers to help create roads for crews.
