East Fork firefighters helped extinguish a Mound House mobile home that was destroyed by fire on Monday morning.

The fire was reported at 9:56 a.m. when occupants and neighbors reported hearing several explosions.

Central Lyon County Fire Protection District firefighters found the home engulfed in flames.

Two of the residents were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Lyon County Emergency Management Coordinator Rob Loveberg said efforts to extinguish the fire were complicated by an energized power line and a leaking pressurized gas line. The fire was knocked down by 11:35 a.m. Crews were still on the scene mopping up, and watching to make sure gusty winds don’t rekindle the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. In addition to East Fork, Storey County and Carson City firefighters aided in fighting the fire.

The American Red Cross was called to help the residents, Loveberg said.
