Dutch oven demonstration in Genoa Saturday
November 16, 2016
Park rangers at Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa on Saturday for a special Thanksgiving Dutch oven cooking demonstration.
Learn the basics of Dutch oven cooking and how the pioneers used the same cast iron techniques to cook meals in the 1850s.
Dutch oven cooking is a great family activity, especially when camping. Park staff will serve samples 1-3 p.m. until the food runs out.
While there, visitors may see artifacts used by early pioneers at the log cabin museum. Children 12 years and younger are free, adults are $1.
Mormon Station is located in historic Genoa, Nevada's birthplace, four miles west of Highway 395 on Genoa Lane.
