Douglas takes second at McQueen band competition

The Douglas High School band placed second in its division at the McQueen Extravaganza on Oct. 1 and additionally came home with three first-place or superior titles.

The Pride of Carson Valley clinched first-place in its division in the brass category, same brass was named first-place overall among Nevada bands. In music, the Tigers received a superior rating.

Among both in-state and out-of-state bands, the Tiger brass was ranked second overall. The band placed second in music, second in general excellence, and second in visual in its division.

The Tigers also took home the third-place sweepstakes trophy for overall band.

Other honors included a third-place win in flags in its division, third-place in music overall, and third-place in general excellence overall.

Douglas competed against 17 other bands in the event, including 13 from Nevada.

On Saturday, the Tigers were at Galena for the Performance of Champions competition. On Oct. 15, the band will be heading to the Damonte Ranch Invitational.
