Douglas sheriff’s office swears in new deputy
Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini announced the recent appointment of a new Douglas County deputy sheriff.
Matthew Schlanger was sworn in on Monday in a ceremony held at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Minden.
The appointment comes as a result of several months of testing and evaluation consisting of a physical agility test, oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, and medical exam.
Schlanger holds a Category 1 Peace Officers Standards and Training certificate and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will begin his career at Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in the Jail Division.
Schlanger worked for seven years as an officer for the Greensboro Police Department, Greensboro, N.C., prior to this appointment as a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy.
