Douglas High grad joins sheriff’s ranks

A new deputy sheriff was sworn in by Undersheriff Paul Howell on Monday.
Deputy Marisa Irby grew up in Douglas County and graduated from Douglas High School. She has a Category I POST certificate and previously worked for Reno Airport Police.
Irby said she is excited to return to the community she grew up in and serve the public.
Deputies, even those with previous experience, undergo several weeks of specialized training including firearms and defense tactics.
