Douglas High demolishes concrete structures
The concrete structures in front of Douglas High School are rubble today.
Long the setting for photos, conversations and even the occasional study session, the structures have been part of life at the high school since it opened in the late 1970s.
The structures were taken out as part of the expansion of the school, which includes the construction of a two-story science, technology, engineering and mathematics building.
Work on expansion of the high school will continue through the 2014-15 school year in preparation for bringing the freshman class back to the high school in fall 2015.
