Staff Reports

Davey Fisher, a 2009 Douglas High School graduate, recently won the Major of the Year award at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., where he is a junior.

Fisher won the award for bachelor’s in science and physical education. The award is nationally based and includes universities throughout the country. Winners are invited to a national convention held in Boston each year.

Nominees were chosen based upon academics as well as extra-curricular activities and community work.

“I am currently pursuing a major in health/fitness promotion with a minor in sports psychology maintaining a 3.72 GPA on the Dean’s List,” Fisher said. “I played two years of NCAA football for PLU, and currently am a captain of the track team and as well as a mentor volunteer in the student-athlete mentor program. One day I aspire to be a track and field coach in the NCAA.”
