Twas the day after Christmas and there were already four trees at the recycling location on Waterloo Lane across from Lampe Park.

Douglas County residents can drop off their Christmas trees at Lampe Park through Jan. 27. The drop-off location is on Waterloo Lane across from the park.

The Douglas County Parks Department is collecting the trees at the location and Bently Ranch will be turning the trees into mulch.

In 2015, the Ranch mulched about 20 tons of trees to be used in their 23,000 acres of field.

Bently Ranch has one of the largest composting facilities in Nevada and the mulched trees will be used for compost.

Douglas County residents who are Douglas Disposal customers have another option to recycle their trees this season. Douglas Disposal is collecting trees from their customers on their regular collection days the week of Jan. 8-12. Trees must have all their decorations removed and must be less than 6 feet in length.
