The Nevada State 4-H Shooting Sports Match was held Sept. 14 in Las Vegas. Douglas County 4-H was well represented and took home many awards.

Eighty-five Nevada youth registered for the match; 10 from Clark County, 10 from Douglas County, 12 from Elko, 14 from Humboldt, 17 from Lincoln, six from Nye, three from Storey, two from Washoe and 11 from White Pine.  Two youth were unable to make the shoot for a total of 83 competitors.  Of that number nearly all competed in more than one discipline: 19 competed in one discipline, 28 competed in two disciplines, 13 competed in three disciplines and 21 competed in three disciplines.

“This made for a very full and exciting day for all. Add in the parents and other family members who assisted with and came to support their 4-H’er and the event and roughly 300 were in attendance,” Advisor Shannon Montana said. “Many, many thanks go out to the 4-H leaders, parents and staff from around the state who gave their time and energy to make this event successful. Especially to our Douglas County 4-H Shooting Sports Leaders: Jared Harmon, Andy Hettrick Deanna Lewis, Matt McKinney, Eric Rieman, Joe Nenzel and Ronald Williams.”
