Dog hurt in accident recovering in Valley
A golden retriever injured in a Kingsbury Grade head-on collision on Tuesday is being treated in Carson Valley.
Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital spokeswoman Larae McCarran said the 6-year-old purebred dog, named Nani, is in stable condition, with a laceration that’s being treated.
Nani was injured when she was ejected after a Jeep Cherokee driven by her owner collided with a BlueGo bus. Nani’s owner, Savannah Malena Amos, 19, was cut from the wreckage and flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by CalStar helicopter with substantial injuries after the collision.
Nani ran away from the accident and was found Friday morning in a Kingsbury park by Amos’ parents.
Nani is under the care of veterinarian Erika Little and will stay at the hospital overnight.
Amos suffered broken lower extremities and facial lacerations in the accident. A husky puppy in Amos’ lap was killed.
