Brighter Days and St. Gall’s Catholic Church Pre-school were recently visited by Deputy Teresa Duffy, Sgt. John George and his K-9 partner Drago.

The children asked many questions, got a look inside a patrol vehicle, and saw the lights and siren operate.

The children, ages 4-6, learned who to ask for help, and how to call 911.

“The sheriff’s office is committed to keeping children, teens and adults safe from crime through education and community policing, which results in a partnership to build a safer community,” Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Bernadette Smith said. “Children’s ability to communicate with and trust a police officer is critical and can save their lives and the lives of others.”

One of the children told Deputy Duffy that he wanted to grow up and be a superhero just like them.
