Deputies keeping close eye on crosswalks
August 17, 2015
Beginning Monday, residents may expect to see an increase in the normal law enforcement presence near crosswalks within Douglas County through Aug. 28.
Douglas County has joined forces with Lyon County and other law enforcement agencies statewide to monitor pedestrian safety.
Pedestrian safety is a growing concern in Nevada. Drivers need to be aware of pedestrians in and around crosswalks. Motorist should use extra care in the early morning and late evening when visibility is decreased by the sun. Motorist should remain focused on the road and watch for pedestrians, especially school children in school zones.
Nevada Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program that promotes statewide enforcement of DUI, seat belt use, distracted driving, speed and pedestrian safety.
