Demonstrating for law enforcement
Passing motorists honked as Gardnerville resident John Munk stood in front of the Minden Post Office with a sign showing his support for law enforcement.
Munk is a retired Douglas County deputy who said reading the national news made him want to show his support.
“It’s disheartening how people are treating law enforcement across the country,” he said. “I wanted to do this to show what a great community we have here.”
He said he wanted people to pray for the families and loved ones of officers.
As passing motorists honked and waved, Munk said he’d seen a good response.
“It’s refreshing to get a positive feeling,” he said. “I just want to show that one person can make a difference.”
Munk retired from the sheriff’s office, where he worked for nearly a quarter of a century, on July 1, 2012.
