Democrats, teachers host candidate forums
The Douglas County Democratic Women will sponsor a candidates forum 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Carson Valley Middle School Gymnasium, 1475 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
Candidates for State Assembly, the Douglas County Commission and Douglas County School Board will speak and answer questions from the audience.
This non-partisan forum will be moderated by Jill Talbot Derby who is currently serving her 15th year on the Nevada Board of Regents. Derby is a popular speaker and facilitator.
Everyone in the community, regardless of their party affiliation, is encouraged to attend this event.
The offices these candidates seek to fill are vital to the quality of life in the Carson Valley.
For information, call Jo Ann Orange at 782-5980.
The Douglas County Professional Education Association is sponsoring a “candidate forum” for four local elections on Oct. 13 at CVIC Hall in Minden. The purpose of this forum is to allow community members to submit written questions for candidates running in the following elections: Douglas County Commissioner, Nevada State Assembly, Douglas County School Board, and Nevada State Senate.
A moderator will ask each candidate the written questions and attempt to ensure equal time for individual candidates. Come hear the local candidate respond to concerns in an open, public forum.
Assembly candidates Randy Green and Lynn Hettrick are invited to speak at 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Douglas County School Board candidates Ron Beck, Loren R. Orr, Lawrence W. Howell, Cynthia M. Trigg, John J. Louritt, Eric L. Eakin and Teri Jamin are invited to speak at 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
Douglas County Commission candidates James Baushke, Sam Dupuis, Jane Foraker-Thomas, Doug Johnson, Kelly Kite, Edith “Edie” Webber, are invited to speak 6:15 to 7 p.m.
