Deadline looms for GOP caucus
Republicans have until Friday to register to vote if they want to participate in the Feb. 4 caucus.
The caucus will be the only opportunity Nevadans will have to express their choice for president until the general election in November, Douglas County Chairwoman Maggie Benz confirmed on Tuesday.
Only registered Republicans may participate in that party’s caucus. Residents need to be registered Republican by Jan. 20 in order to cast a ballot in the presidential race, according to the Nevada Republican website, http://www.nvgopcaucus.com.
Those attending the caucus will be required to show a Nevada identification card. Organizers will have a list of voters qualified to participate in their precinct.
Caucuses are where delegates to the county convention are selected, proposals for the party’s platform are made, and a vote on presidential preference will be taken.
