DCSO gets plaque from National Child Safety Council

For 30 years, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has endorsed the efforts of the National Child Safety Council. The council provides educational material to children designed to prevent violence, drug and alcohol abuse and abduction. Other programs include a 24-hour, toll-free hotline to a help center that enables people to report missing children sightings and provides assistance to children, parents and law-enforcement agencies nationwide.

The National Child Safety Council is the largest and oldest non-profit organization in the United States that is entirely dedicated to the safety of children. The council receives sponsor donations from area businesses in order to have the educational material available to children in Douglas County.

In Douglas County, sponsors include Topaz Lodge and Casino, Mark Smith Tire Center Inc., Coast to Coast Hardware, 7-Eleven #22590, Raley’s #189, Carson Valley Pharmacy, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove Resort, Overland Hotel Bar and Restaurant, Pizza Barn Nevada Inc., Out of Bounds, 7-Eleven, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, A&H Liquor and Deli, Horizon Casino Resort, Computer Design Center Inc., Los Ranchitos Mexican Restaurant, Napa-The Parts House, Wayne’s Family Music, Silver State Printing Inc., Harveys Resort and Casino and Dart Discount Liquors.

Recognition: Sheriff Ron Pierini and Dep. Jennie Hill receive plaques inscribed “In recognition of outstanding and dedicated service to the safety education of children” from Floyd and Mitzi Ward of the National Child Safety Council.
