Cruz Alaniz service 5 p.m. Sunday
A memorial service for a Douglas High School senior who died after being in a coma is 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Minden at the Douglas High School commons.
Cruz Alaniz would have been 18 years old in March. He planned on joining the U.S. Marine Corps after he graduated in May.
He died Dec. 23, 2015, after being removed from a ventilator.
The family has asked that everyone be seated by 5 p.m. for the service.
Cruz was a skateboarder, who liked helping his friends make YouTube videos of their tricks.
He was taken to the hospital by his mother on Dec. 5 where he had a seizure because of the large amounts of water he’d drunk in order to wash drugs he’d taken from his system.
A trust account has been opened at Wells Fargo Bank in Cruz Alaniz’ name.
Donors may go to any branch and ask to make a deposit to the account for Cruz Alaniz.
No account number is necessary.
