Couple held on drug charges after Saturday arrest
A couple is being held in Douglas County Jail on multiple drug charges after being pulled over in Minden on Saturday afternoon.
Elizabeth Nix, 43, and Joseph Leonard, 26, were stopped 3:50 p.m. after deputies received a description of a green Buick involved in a domestic dispute that matched the vehicle Nix was driving.
Nix was weaving in her lane when she was pulled over. At first Nix gave her mother’s name and information to the deputies, but during a search of the vehicle found a photo identification.
Leonard is on probation in Douglas County and was subject to search and seizure clause. The domestic dispute occurred when Leonard showed up at his mom’s house asking for money. Deputies said they believe both Leonard and Nix were under the influence of drugs when they were pulled over.
Nix was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, obstruction two traffic offenses, including driving without a license. Her bail is $9,783.
Leonard was booked on an alternative sentencing violation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic, probation or parole violation. His bail was $10,000.
