County hires technology officer

After a nationwide recruitment Douglas County has selected Sherri McGee for the position of chief technology officer to lead the technology services department.

“I am very excited about this position and supporting the county in this capacity,” said McGee. “I have successfully led teams to accomplish technology projects and business goals and look forward to assisting Douglas County in meeting its objectives.”

McGee has lived in Douglas County for 41 years and is married to longtime resident Mike McGee. She raised her children in Douglas and now has grandchildren growing up in the Valley. Her daughter works at Great Basin Equine in Gardnerville and has three boys. McGee’s son is working as a civil engineer in Reno and is also a pilot for the Nevada National Guard.

McGee comes to Douglas County with over 16 years of technology leadership experience in government and holds certifications in project management, IT service management and agile methodologies. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UNR with majors in Business and Computer Applications.

McGee began her official role as chief technology officer Feb. 22. McGee replaces the former chief technology officer who resigned in March 2015.
