Free mugs and hot dogs were the order of the day on Saturday as Douglas County officially opened the doors of the community and senior center.

Throngs of people toured the center which has been under construction since the summer of 2013.

Community Services Division Manager Travis Lee said the county handed out 1,800 hot dogs and 1,750 coffee mugs commemorating the event.

Contractor CORE Construction flew a drone over the festivities to record the moment.

Lee said there were 300 people who arrived early and toured the building.

The 83,000-square-foot center cost $16.9 million to build.
