Commission tables ordinance to dissolve sewer district
After a five-hour hearing, Douglas County commissioners voted 4-1 table a first reading of an ordinance to dissolve the Douglas County Sewer Improvement District No. 1.
Commissioners decided it was better to wait and hear from the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office and conduct meetings with the district before deciding to start the dissolution process.
“We’re seeking an alternative to the meat ax,” Commissioner Greg Lynn said.
The lone vote against tabling the item was from Commission Chairman Doug Johnson.
Johnson said approving the first reading would start the clock on getting more information.
The Record-Courier staffed the meeting and will have more detail about the debate on Friday.
