College classes begin Jan. 22

Looking to earn a college degree, switch careers, or continue learning? Western Nevada Community College is registering students for the spring semester that begins Jan. 22. More than 1,000 classes, including dozens of online offerings and interactive video courses, will serve students at Western’s three campuses and five learning centers.

WNCC offers nearly 50 degrees and certificates, specialized training programs, transfer courses, and community education classes. Registration is completed online at

Introductory courses at WNCC Douglas can be the first step to an exciting, successful career. Featured spring classes include:

Bookkeeping I, ACC 135B, a three-credit class on Mondays from 7-9:45 p.m., will introduce the basic principles of bookkeeping and applied accounting for a business enterprise. Cost: $189.50.

Introduction to Criminal Justice I, CRJ 101, is a three-credit course that will meet on Mondays from 7-9:45 p.m. This class will survey the history, philosophy and functions of the criminal justice system, law enforcement, criminal law and constitutional rights as they affect system functioning. Cost: $169.50.

General Psychology, PSY 101, a three-credit class on Mondays from 7-9:45 p.m., will introduce the field of psychology to students. The class will cover major principles and their application to the study of human behavior. Cost: $169.50.

Other class subjects and possible career paths include anthropology, art, biology, business, chemistry, computers, construction, counseling, economics, education, emergency medical services, geology, music, political science, social work and more.
