Coleville woman hurt in Holbrook wreck
A Coleville woman was injured when she was thrown from the cab of the pickup she was driving on Wednesday evening.
Cheryce D. Ward, 23, was found lying by the side of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup that had come to rest off Highway 395 just south of Holbrook Junction at about 4:36 p.m.
Rescuers conducted CPR at the scene and resuscitated her at the scene before she was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight helicopter.
Trooper Chuck Allen said Ward was northbound on Highway 395 coming down the hill from Topaz when she stepped on the brakes for an unknown reason.
The pickup’s brakes locked and the pickup skidded through the oncoming lane and off the highway and then into an embankment where she was ejected.
Allen said it didn’t appear the pickup rolled over, but that it stopped suddenly and Ward was thrown from the driver’s seat.
“Alcohol is suspected as one of the contributing factors,” he said.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, which didn’t close the highway.
