A Carson City man, who was struck by a vehicle near Stateline on early Saturday morning, has been identified as Cody J. Dobson, 31.

The accident was reported at 3:13 a.m. Saturday on Highway 50 near Lake Parkway.

Dobson may have been walking on the highway or stumbled from the adjacent sidewalk just east of the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa prior to being struck, Trooper Chuck Allen said.

“One witness who stopped to render aid told troopers he was driving west when he observed a person lying in one of the eastbound travel lanes,” Allen said. “When he turned his vehicle around to provide assistance, he saw a full size blue Dodge pickup strike the downed pedestrian. Further information indicates the pickup may have a camper shell matching the color of the vehicle as well.”

Dobson was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital by ground ambulance and was later helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he is in critical condition.

“Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor in this event as Dobson displayed signs of intoxication both at the scene and the hospital,” Allen said.

Anyone who witnessed this crash or who may have more information about this incident is asked to call Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Major Accident Investigation Team at (775) 689-4623 or regarding case number NHP-130800861. Witnesses can also call (775) 687-0400.
