Circus coming to town

Staff reports

The Gardnerville-Carson Valley Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus, an old-fashioned Big Top circus Monday, May 29, at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Show times will be at 2 and 4 p.m.

Featured in the past on National Geographic’s Explorer TV series, Entertainment Tonight, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune and Arizona Highways magazine, this traditional one-ring circus provides 1-1/2 hours of family entertainment.

Elephants, clowns, aerialists and all the magic of the circus are presented in the intimacy of a circus “Big Top” that is erected every morning the same way it has been done for over 200 years – with elephant power. The public is invited to watch the tent-raising at about 9 a.m. on circus morning and to stay for the free endangered species show at 10 a.m. and learn about the animal performers in the circus.

Advanced tickets for circus performances are on sale at area merchants, or for information, call 782-5550. Prices for advanced tickets are $5 for children 12 and younger and $7 for adults. On circus day, tickets will be $6 for children and $8 for adults.
